I like taking interesting pictures and I like learning about free (and very solid) software like Gimp (think Photoshop for Linux).
On the other hand I really don’t like faking my photos. Nevertheless, this is a nice article on how to use Gimp to improve the appeal of the sky in your photos. I’d like to try this sometime.
Can’t believe that I’m actually excited about a new Windows product but looks like all of the hype is working on me, at least. However, I really have no intention at all of ever using Windows 7 as a preferred OS but I would like to know what all the fuss is about.
So after several abortive attempts to download the beta yesterday, I’m trying again right now from this link (for 32-bit English version).
From what I can see, it seems to be going OK. All previous attempts I made to get this D/L errored out around the 7-8% mark (180-190 MB). Now, I’ve reached 12.5% (311 MB) and it’s still downloading at around 300 kB/s although it has gone as high as 450 kB/s.
Better though is the fact that product keys seem to be readily available. This site tells you everything you need to know to get a free product activation key. So you can follow the easy directions on this site to download your own key or just use one of the five listed on the site. I downloaded one and it turned out to be 4HJRK-X6Q28-HWRFY-WDYHJ-K8HDH which is already listed on the site.
Actually, I just see now that my download has errored out again but this time at 394 MB (15.8%). However, I note that the Windows site says that this d/l behaves like a bittorrent d/l in that you can restart it if you happen to stop it. Don’t know if this applies to erroring out but I’ll find out.
