I know I’m uncharacteristically writing a lot of stuff about Windows which is probably inappropriate as I’m by no means a Windows user and the blog is supposed to be about Linux.

However, I did manage to set up a triple boot with Windows 7, XP and Ubuntu (and W7 really is worth a look at least) and Aisling now has a EeePC 901 with XP on it so I’ll need to get to know a few Windows tricks to help her out.

In particular,  Xinorbis should be of use to her as a means of finding out what she can delete to free up disk space on the C:\ drive which she insists on filling to overflow despite have an almost empty D:\ drive.

This is an interesting article about the above as it purports to do exactly what I’ve just done (multiboot W7, XP and Ubuntu using Grub as bootloader).

However, on first reading I honestly can’t see that this would have been of any real help to me had I seen it before I set up my system.

But, it’s late here. Maybe I’m just tired………

Bleachbit is a Linux tool very like the Windows Ccleaner app.

This could be useful on machines such as my EeePC 901 where space is at a premium. I already tried this out, but it only freed up 2.2 MB which is relatively insignificant. Nevertheless, worth having available.

What’s that picture?

A very nice shot of a field of sunflowers I got from Wikipedia. Not sure where the shot was taken.
